An undulating circular route of about 3.5 to 4 miles along forestry tracks and paths and across some sheep-grazed heathland.
The walk is from a lay-by on the A4085 Penrhyndeudraeth to Llanfrothen road. It climbs gently through the Pant-y-Wrach forestry to a woodland pool, then crosses a grazed heath, eventually meandering through a larger forested area to the ruins of the lead mines at Pen yr Allt.
This is the halfway point, so good for a refreshment break - so do bring a snack and a flask.
The return route roughly follows the line of the Ffestiniog Railway through the woodland, then takes a quiet tarmac-surfaced lane through …
