Helpful Group Information

Group Riding  (DFW AREA MOTORCYCLE RIDERS GROUP)(Downtomeet) 4/21

1.Be Safe!,Any injury of anyone on a ride discounts any enjoyment we would be having in the ride. There are many youtube videos on group riding, etc. Everyone should be familiar with basic group riding, watch them. You could be an excellent individual rider but group riding is somewhat different.

Some YOUTUBE videos

2.All members that participate in rides will have an inspected, well maintained motorcycle, have minimum liability insurance, and a valid license with a class "M" endorsement,I carry a tire plug kit, some tools, extra plugs and have Roadside assistance(Dairyland motorcycle insurance 1-855-405-2422),but have never had to use them on a trip, but you never know. Problems with a bike(even a new bike) could arise, We will assist in anyway possible and not leave anyone behind. Local pickup 817-308-9086 is available 24/7

3.Consumption of alcohol, or other mentally-impairing substances before, or during rides is not allowed.Unsafe riding habits, placing other group members at risk will not be tolerated and could result having to leave the ride and be removed from the group. You should make the ride leader(road captain) aware of any medical conditions that may effect you on the ride- before the ride. This is important because we can be together on the road for many hours/days away from home. An emergecy contact # would be a plus.

4.Maintain group speed. The speed limit can be as high as 70-75 out on the open road, we more or less maintain a constant speed until we hit towns, sites, stops etc. We will use main roads when back roads won't get us there. We always have ample stops/rest breaks to accommodate everyone.

5.Any questions about the route, stops, diversions, eats, etc. should be handled before the ride so we are all on the same page. The ride leader(road captain) will make any/all modifications and decisions during the ride as needed.Note: Depending on ride and number of riders and environment, more freedoms can be enjoyed (as long as they are safe).

6. Each member must meet on a "meet and greet" ride BEFORE you will be allowed to ride on any overnight trips, It is only reasonable I meet the riders that I have never seen or rode with before.

7. Each rider must know the limitations of their bike and their own skill level. Riders must use their own judgment to keep themselves safe while riding. Maintaining proper distance between riders, staggered riding, safety pull offs, etc. are group riding specific and will be discussed as needed.

***These tips help to have a trip to remember-a gopro camera on helmet helps.

Comments

Good comments about the machine you are riding and the spare items and tools to carry with you.
I have only gotten back into riding a couple of years ago. I started out on a Harley XG500 and stepped up over the 2 years and now I enjoy my 2020 Indian Roadmaster. I have been on a few ovetnight trips and prefer riding in groups of 5 or less. I have riden about 24,000 miles in the past two years.
